Ingrid
Elam has been active as a journalist in Sweden in the fields
of arts and literature since the late 1970s. She holds a PhD
in Comparative Literature, and has served as the editor of the
arts pages of several of the major daily papers in Sweden: Göteborgs
Tidningen, Göteborgs-Posten and Dagens Nyheter. She is
currently self-employed and is often seen on television, heard
on the radio and read as a columnist in virtually all the main
Swedish publications, as well as chairing public debates and
serving as the director of various committees for the awarding
of literary prizes. Her favourite work of art is Bach’s
B minor Mass.
Our
article is a reworked version of Ingrid Elam’s survey
of ten contemporary Swedish authors published as New
Fiction in Sweden. Publisher:
